We're going on the 19th to the one in Jefferson City. It's the closest one to me, since I'm in Columbia.

It was set up by the folks that run PFLAG and PRIDE in St Charles. They had the mayor of St Peters there with a proclamation making yesterday the official TDoR for St Peters. They had the woman that started TransParent USA http://transparentusa.org/. The folks that started Metro Trans Umbrella group https://www.stlmetrotrans.com/. A Doctor representing The Washington University Transgender Center http://www.stlouischildrens.org/our-services/transgender-center. I think a gay state senator. I say think because he preceded his discussion with the fact that he was a sitting republican. There was some clergy (the only group that didn't speak) and some other folks that spoke as well.......... ......... It was sad. Especially when they played the names and pictures of the murdered 25 on a projector and had everyone read out their names......... .............T he most disappointing part for me was the turn out. I expected way more  people then actually turned up. So few.  Not to marginalize those that came.  It is sad that we have to hold these events. I want to say hopefully more people will attend next year, but, I don't want there to be a TDoR next year. I dont want to have events that symbolizes in such a brutal way the world my son is going to have to grow up in. I would rather TDoR didn't exist because Trans people weren't being murdered...... .............. Really. I don't believe in unicorns.....b ut the world is changing. The gay republican may have been a republican but he was openly gay promoting LGBTQIA+ equality. The unheard of amount of openly Trans and LGBT people in government that were VOTED in democratically is awesome. We will get there. I just hope it is sooner as apposed to later.
